Last week, the Moondock team traveled from Berlin to New York for Blockchain Week and Consensus 2018. It was a ridiculous trip, from which I’m only now starting to recover, procrastinating from a looming pile of business cards marked “follow up”. The trip was a massive success for us, as the team hit the conference floor hard, meeting startups, developers, and investors.

As Moondock’s Marketing Manager, being only a block or two from many of my peers in the blockchain space was incredible. It was great to finally meet the friends I’ve known and worked alongside remotely for years now, catching up and swapping stories from our campaigns. The blockchain space moves so rapidly that it forces us to collaborate, share our successes and work together. It’s nice to be of a team that’s constantly rewriting the playbook.

It’s nice to be of a team that’s constantly rewriting the playbook.

However, as fun as meeting my internet comtemporaries IRL was, most of my time was spent with startups. It was fantastic to sit with founders and listen to their pain points. Despite the wide variety of technologies and platforms, it was fascinating that the same problems kept cropping up:

“How can we make sure our protocol stands out among the others?”

“Our growth has been stagnant/in decline since our token sale”

“How can we incentivise our token holders to participate in our network?”

Our team have been through every transformational change on the Web from Mosaic to MetaMask, meeting startups with these challenges meant our assumptions on building a sustainable blockchain ecosystem were validated.

These are the teething problems of an industry in its early stages: business development, marketing, product development — challenges Moondock was designed to solve. We’ll continue to refine and develop our program to better suit these needs.

Are you attending Blockshow Europe? I’m eager to meet startups who might be a good fit for our upcoming Moondock cohort.
