The Moonlet team is proud to announce the launch of Moonlet Beta! 🎉 We encourage dev enthusiasts around the world to test the wallet app and join us in our journey to the moon(let). 😀

❗❗️❗️️Before you start to test our cryptocurrency wallet, please note that Moonlet supports native ZIL tokens only, on both mainnet and testnet networks. ERC-20 ZIL tokens are not supported. Therefore, please DO NOT send ERC-20 ZIL tokens to our wallet; you are going to lose them.❗️❗️❗️

What is Moonlet and the team behind. Moonlet is a blockchain agnostic cryptocurrency wallet that targets on the long run to deliver a seamless, secure and stable end-to-end payment experience for both businesses and individual users.

Our focus in the past months has been to develop the Chrome browser extension that seamlessly integrates functionalities on both Zilliqa and Ethereum blockchain platforms.

Moonlet is conform to the open source ethos (here you can find our repos)and we are proud to be part of the Zilliqa Ecosystem Grant programme. You can find more about our team members on our website, namely https://moonlet.xyz/

Please bear in mind that Moonlet is an experimental software in its early stages. We expect to have issues and bugs. The current status of the existing product requires technical skills and involve risks which are outside of our control. The software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. In no event shall the authors or copyright holders be liable for any claim, damages or other liability, whether in an action of contract, tort or otherwise, arising from, out of or in connection with the software or the use or other dealings in the software. Please read the full disclaimer 👉 here👈.

We strongly suggest you to exercise extreme caution and be vigilant about safety and security!

You can find below the steps required to install our latest release and what you need in order to start testing Moonlet.

Please bear in mind that for testing purposes, we recommend you to switch to testnet mode and utilise testnet ZILs obtained from the testnet faucet. For more details, please check out the guide below.

Step 1. Download our latest release.

At the time of writing, version v0.5.6 is our latest build. However, please always use the latest build released here 👉 https://github.com/cryptolandtech/moonlet/releases. It should have the Latest release tag on it, as you can see below:

Download extension.zip with the latest release tag by clicking on it. Unzip it after.

Step 2. Install it on your Chrome browser.

Moonlet is a Google Chrome extension, hence it will require you to have Google Chrome browser installed. If you do not have Google Chrome browser, please install it at https://www.google.com/chrome/.

Now the fun part comes in. This is going to make you more geek than you thought you were. 😛

Open Extensions section from Chrome menu. Either you type the following command on your Chrome browser chrome://extensions/ or access your “Extensions” settings page by going to “Chrome Menu” > “More Tools” > “Extensions”. Then, enable the “Developer Mode” that is located at the top right hand corner. Once you have done so, a submenu with the “Load unpacked” button will appear.

Step 3. Load the unpacked (unzipped) file.

Click Load unpacked” button and browse or your recently unzipped *extension* folder created via Step 1, and “Select” this *extension* folder.

Once done, you should be able to see the newly created Moonlet extension card in the “Extension” settings page.

Step 4. Launch Moonlet and create a new wallet.

Click Moonlet icon from your Chrome browser bar as in the image above in order to launch the extension. Then click the Moonlet icon in your extension bar to launch the extension and “CREATE A NEW WALLET”.

Please make sure to make a backup of your secret phrase. It is highly important to keep it safe and secure. Without this phrase you will not be able to restore your wallet. Please also remember to save your wallet’s password, the password is required for you to “SIGN IN” to your Moonlet account.

Since Moonlet is a Hierarchical Deterministic (HD) wallet, it is capable of deriving multiple accounts on multiple different blockchains using the single master seed. Hence, when you successfully sign in to Moonlet wallet for the first time, you will be welcomed by two freshly created Zilliqa and Ethereum accounts.

At the end you should be able to see the dashboard with default addresses for both Zilliqa and Ethereum.

❗❗❗You are now connected to mainnet and it is highly important to switch to testnets in order to use testnet tokens to test Moonlet on both blockchain platforms. Please make sure you follow below step. ❗❗❗

Step 5. Switch to testnet networks.

Open the Moonlet extension’s menu located at the top right hand corner of the extension. Then click on Settings. Once there, please access “Developer options > Switch on > Network options > Switch to Testnets > Confirm Switch”. Done!

When you revisit the dashboard, you should be welcomed with a “Warning!” sign to confirm that you have indeed switched to the testnet mode.

Step 6. Get some testnet tokens.

To obtain some Zilliqa testnet tokens:

1. Claim 300 testnet ZILs from the Nucleus dev-wallet faucet, https://dev-wallet.zilliqa.com/home.

2. Send some testnet ZILs from the Nucleus dev-wallet to the Moonlet wallet’s testnet account address.

3. Transfer some testnet ZILs from the Moonlet wallet’s testnet account to another wallet’s testnet address.

We made a short video tutorial to cover all the flow. Check it here: https://youtu.be/LJ7bthwChnQ

For obtaining Ethereum testnet tokens on Ropsten network, you can access the faucet from here https://faucet.ropsten.be/. Just copy/paste the ETH address from Moonlet and click Send me test Ether” on faucet page.

Your feedback is very important, therefore in case you notice issues or you just want to make development proposals, please use this form: https://goo.gl/forms/dGrgbdSHRNtluSY42. Thank you!

Please stay tuned for more updates about Moonlet. We are going to reveal soon details about a new partnership.

Enjoy this testing experience! :)
