Since the dawn of time, humans have coordinated together to farm, hunt animals, protect their communities, create art, and build stuff (check out the gargantuan pyramids). It’s only in groups when we coordinate together, that we are able to do some seemingly impossible things.

But it’s not easy coordinating — especially on the internet which has made our world a global village. There are many challenges in getting a large group of people (who come from different corners of the world, speak different languages, and practice different cultures) to work towards a common goal.

And one of the unavoidable challenges of coordination is ensuring public goods get proper funding. That’s what Gitcoin DAO is hoping to solve.

What is Moonshot Collective?

Moonshot collective is a workstream within GitcoinDAO. We are a community of builders and web3 community members that prototypes decentralized coordination tools. Our goal is to create state of the art high tech Web3 tools that GitcoinDAO can use to fulfill its mission of building and funding the open web. Here are some of the dope projects we are working on:

The GreatestLARP

This is the flagship Moonshot Collective project for the last quarter of 2021. The LARP has raised over $500k, with all proceeds benefiting the Gitcoin Grants Matching Pool.

The GreatestLARP is an alternate reality coordination game that helps GitcoinDAO raise awareness and funding for public goods. Through game play, the community advanced through 4 challenging levels culminating in a final battle with Moloch. Moloch is the God of coordination failure and chaos, and by defeating Moloch, we will prove humanity gets the best outcomes through working together.

Here are the 4 levels of gameplay

Level1: Moloch is winning: “If you know both your enemy and yourself, you can win every battle without a single loss.” Level 1 is all about understanding the lore of the game.

Level2: Summon the ETHBots. We minted at least 200 ETHBots and 3 ETHBot statues to coordinate against Moloch. The ETHBots are minted on a bonding curve, meaning minting gets more expensive as more ETHBots are minted.

Level3: Fight the Many Molochs To complete this level we minted at least 200 Digital and 3 Statue Molochs. Level completed. Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much ;)

Level4: The Final Boss This was a crowdfund auction of an ultra-rare 1/1 NFT. It is a digital sculpture of an ETHBot fighting Moloch. The crowdfund began on 6th Dec. Once 40ETH was crowdfunded through PartyBid, the 24 auctions will opened. The final tally was just over 40ETH raised, and all participants received a percentage of ownership of the NFT based upon their contributions.

Recruiter.Party

One of the ways in which Web2 companies make money is by selling user data to third parties. Or they use it themselves to drive advertising revenue. It’s not necessarily that the companies or the people behind them are evil; it’s just the web2 model that’s inherently flawed.

It’s your data, why shouldn’t you be able to profit off it as well? Recruiter.Party is a tool that performs like LinkedIn Recruiter, except it doesn’t trade your private data for money.

Recruiter.Party gives you the option to choose what you want others to see on your resume or profile. Recruiters and employers pay you a fee to access your data or contact you. This way, you get to earn money on your data, not Microsoft or Reid Hoffman.

In the present scenario LinkedIn sells your data to recruiters for $99 a month. But, in contrast, Recruiter.Party lets you own your data and earn when recruiters purchase it. The long term goal is to build a CRM in which talented individuals can earn from their data being passed around.

Tip.Party

Web3 is a net positive game, and community participation is everything. Tip.Party helps you promote participation by rewarding people who show up to meetings and events. Here’s how it’s done.

  • You, as a host, create a room on Tip.Party.
  • Invite people by sending them a secret name for the room.
  • You choose how much you want to spend on total tipping.
  • You just send a single transaction, and the tool breaks it up into multiple token transactions, one to each participant.

Tip.Party is now on L2s, Polygon and xDai. And projects like MetaFactory, Opolis, DAO House have used it. Click here to check it out.

Tokenstream.Party

Tokenstream.Party is a DApp to stream GTC (or any other crypto coin/token if need be) to developers and contributors of a project. Like a line of credit. The funding wallet approves a certain number of tokens that are allocated over a timeframe to the approved senders. Use the DApp here.
