It’s Not the Drugs, Stupid! It’s Late Stage Capitalism

The one question that no one has asked of me is the only question that starts with, “Why?” that hasn’t been asked.

The Monday morning quarterbacking is strong around my family. Every action I have taken since my suicide attempt is questioned after the fact:

“Why did you turn left and not right?”

“Why didn’t you wake up earlier or later?”

“Why did you walk instead of drive?”

“Why didn’t you pack more clothes?”

“Why did you write four pages instead of three?”

But no one has dared to ask, “Why did you try to kill yourself?”

They think they know the answer, “because DRUGS!”

Show me the logical reasoning that gets one from point A to point B.

There is none. There’s a shit-ton of missing information in there, and at least two shit-tons of assumptions.

“Why did you enjoy the shitty concert?” “Because drugs!”

Coming out of the shadows. No more pseudonym. Humans are designed to fail. I'm Exhibit A. Often writing semi-fictional history and autobiographical stories.
