Fear of Love, The Journey — Slam Poetry

Love! it’s what inspires me,
because I’m human first and foremost just like you.

I woke up one day like I knew it all, I spoke up like I had done it all.
My luck defined by the things I say and not by the things I do.

Through rage and despair I knew everything is gonna be alright,
Through shining stars, swings and tree-houses I felt the child inside,
From outside I stand beneath the apple tree, with pride.

I lied. But I tried, I tried.

I was trapped by the systematic state of mind,
I admire what you did, for the times you tried,
I hide behind the silence of the incredible mind.

My dreams are crushed with no purpose of why; why o why?!

Then like a sign from the divine, it came to me just in time.
It spoke loud and clear:

Lay bare your ego, bring it down, befriend your fear, before you drown.

I gasp for breath. And then a spirit spoke ever so softly …

The greatest moment in life is when we step outside of fear,
It lifts the spirit like nothing out there,
That place may be unknown and unclear
but who knows; you might just love it out there.

That place is love.
