We All Need to Leave

Like, now

Warning: This post is tongue-in-cheek except for the genuine panic and anxiety part

Now, when I say “we need to leave,” what do I mean? Well, I mean you, me, my entire family, your entire family, all our friends, the arts industry, the tech industry, sports, health, economics, agriculture, hell — all industries, and every remotely rational person that’s still here. We all have to go. Like, now.

We can’t fight this beast. We’re losing and we’re going to keep losing because the possibility for any rational discourse is zero.

If Melania Trump is cheered for giving a half-hearted speech about putting an end to bullying, a speech where she literally had to read her only son’s name off a fucking teleprompter

…but then Meryl Streep can give her own speech about bullying and be shouted down as the “liberal out-of-touch Hollywood elite,” then we are officially in La La Land.

If Trump supporters don’t have the self-awareness to see themselves shouting down Hollywood celebrity while simultaneously defending a man who bragged about trying to fuck someone’s wife and being able to grab pussy because of what a giant star he is while sitting on an Access Hollywood bus, then you and I are locked in a fucking mental institution.

If people who don’t even support Trump are telling us that this is why we lost — this, meaning, a well-intentioned actress (nay, national fucking treasure), uses her platform to talk about treating each other with respect and protecting the truth — then what. the actual.fuck.

Worse still, if none of this is true, and they all know he’s an incompetent asshole but they’re digging their heels in anyway because they don’t want to be wrong then, again, I say, we are fucked.

It was never about the emails, the private server, Goldman Sachs, The Clinton Foundation, Bill’s affairs, Benghazi, patriotism, economic anxiety, political correctness, the liberal bubble, likability, integrity, decency, honesty, or Mexicans.

It was always about Trump. His supporters worship him as if he is a God and will fall in line with him no matter what.

NO. MATTER. WHAT.

Even his few Republican detractors, people in Congress sworn to serve and represent the people, are too fucking scared to stand up to him. The Dodo birds are being led off the cliff and if we keep standing here they’ll take us down, too.

I keep wondering: What’s it going to take? What will it take for his supporters to tell him ‘NO, actually, you CAN’T do that and we won’t let you’? And if that never happens, what will it take for us to realize we need to leave?

He is appointing his son-in-law as his advisor. He’s already got a spokesman for the alt-right on the team. He’s using TWITTER

TWITTER.

Let me just repeat that.

TWITTER.

To share his “policy” ideas, including telling us who he thinks is stupid (our CIA, FBI, most Americans), who he thinks is smart (PUTIN) and picking fights with the very government he’s about to be in charge of. He’s appointing people who have more money and more conflicts of interest and less experience and less education than any cabinet we’ve seen in modern history. Oh, and without any ethics or background checks.

So what is it going to take, honestly? How bad does it have to get before we get rid of this fucking insane psychopath?

If he decides certain parts of the country will be “whites only” will that do it? This sounds completely crazy and impossible and yet SO DOES EVERYTHING ELSE.

If he declares himself leader for life, and decides there will be no election in 2020 — will that do it?

If he decides he’s just going to pass along the presidency to his son-in-law and then his son and then his other son and then his daughter — would that do it?

Where is Elon Musk with his fucking spaceship?
