Social Media and Group Projects

We have all been in a group project where it is difficult to get in contact with every single person in the group (and if you haven’t experienced this, then you are very lucky). It is even harder to keep a group discussion organized, especially if your group is communicating through text messages. However, thanks to social media, communication for group projects has become a lot easier. I have found that social media platforms have become my best friend when it comes to keeping constant contact with everyone in a group project and making sure that deadlines are met on time.

There are several social media platforms that I have used for different group projects. Facebook, for example, has been extremely helpful because you are able to create pages and groups where you can add people and post different things. This is very helpful because Facebook always notifies you when someone has posted something new in the group and this keeps things a lot more organized for everyone. And, if one person is still not responding to anything on their phones or on social media because they do not want to contribute, you are able to tag that person’s name on Facebook so they will know that they were specifically called out on the group page. Now, even the people who never look at their phones and do not respond in the group text message have no excuse.

Group projects can be a hassle. Now, social media platforms, such as Facebook, can really come in handy to help manage these group projects.
