A quick note on how to submit to More Than Just Existing

What we are looking for are stories, advice, and overall experiences living with a chronic illness. More Than Just Existing is a safe place to share with others what is it is like to be invisible, to struggle, to persevere, and to be able to love yourself.

Before you send us your stories, please reference the guidelines below to ensure that your voice is heard.

Sending in your stories:

If you are interested in sharing your experiences and advice, please select the story your wish to publish, click the three dots on the right hand corner of your Draft page, select More Than Just Existing, and send it on in!

If you are not a writer for More Than Just Existing just yet, please send a link to your unpublished draft and your Medium username to changethatbehavior@gmail.com.

NOTE: We strongly encourage our writers to submit to Medium Member-Only pieces (gated paywall). This allows for you to get paid for your writing, and it will allow you to reach more readers through various Medium topics.

Stories we are looking for:

We are looking for stories that are well-developed and convey a clear point. Curators are interested in stories that share a point of view, convey an interesting idea, or discuss a life experience. Stories should NOT distribute misinformation, market a product or service, or use hateful speech.

Be sure to edit and revise your story before sending in a draft.

Please edit your story for typos and grammatical errors prior to sending in a draft. If the story has excessive typos and errors, or lacks a clear structure or purpose, it will be denied publication.

Use an appropriate image either above or below your headline. Make sure the source is credited beneath the image.

Some free images that work with Medium include Unsplash, Pixabay, and many other sites. If the image is your own photo, please credit yourself as the source.

Add tags to your story.

Tags are used to designate the genre and content of your story. Tags also helps readers to find your story, and they allow us to publish your work in the correct tab.

We will only be accepting unpublished drafts.

Medium determines the visibility of stories based upon the publication date, so new drafts will receive more views on the homepage rather than old stories.

We look forward to reading about your experiences! Please reach out if you have any questions.
