Morehouse CASA announced the acts for this year’s homecoming concerts

Homecoming is one of the most exciting times in an HBCU students college experience. At Morehouse, homecoming week is filled with events and activities that everyone is excited to take part in. Alumni come back to the area they once called home and it seems like the campus is buzzing with excitement.

The hip-hop and R&B concerts are debatably the most anticipated events of homecoming week. With the announcement from colleges like North Carolina A&T and FAMU about who they had booked for their performances, Morehouse and Spelman student’s anticipation was at an all-time high. Rumors were beginning to surface on social media about who SpelHouse had but, at the last Hump Wednesday, Morehouse CASA put all the rumors to rest. With a crowd full of students from all three of the AUC schools, they announced the acts for this year’s hip-hop and R&B concert. This year for homecoming, SpelHouse has Young Nudy, Playboy Carti, and YG as a headliner. For the R&B concert, Ella Mai will be gracing the Ray PAC stage.

The reaction of the crowd was overwhelmingly positive. Cheers went up with each song that was played as apart of the announcement.

YG definitely created the most commotion. He is by far the biggest artist from the concert lineup. The California artist dropped an album this summer called “Stay Dangerous” featuring premier artists like A$AP Rocky, Ty Dolla Sign, and Nicki Minaj. YG has an extensive catalog and is known for being a good performer so the AUC is in for a real treat.

Ella Mai is a UK artist that has found immense success in the United States. The freshmen artist also has a connection to the west coast. DJ Mustard, who has also helped YG gain notoriety, found Ella Mai a few years ago and has helped her become a premier act. Her singles “Boo’d Up” and “Trip” dominated the summer playlists and her recently released self-titled album has seen success as well.
