Thorlos Powers Its Passion Against Breast Cancer Through Charitable Partnerships
Eve Sawyer once said, “Never underestimate the power of passion.” Passion not only speaks to us, it guides us and fuels our finest moments.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and THOR●LO is pleased to partner with a number of breast cancer charities not only through its passion of empowering people to achieve more life, but also the passion ignited by the relationships developed with our loyal consumers. Each of these charities that have been selected is based on the financial contributions made by our consumers.
So far, this initiative has raised over $534,442 in donations and support for breast cancer charities. As you might guess, our primary approach has been to donate $1 per pair of pink Thorlos® sold. However, we realize more needs to be done and have increased the number of pink styles this year from three to six. https://www.thorlo.com/cause/2015-buy-pink.
By wearing these pink Thorlos, participants in these philanthropic endeavors will enjoy the best possible foot protection during training for an event, and during and after the event itself. This can only enhance the emotional connection they experience by participating in these worthwhile endeavors. Rather than donating directly to a specific charity, THOR●LO will donate a dollar from the sale of every pair of pink Thorlos that are sold. When you buy one of these styles, you can designate the charity you would like your money to go.
Below are the highlights of each of the participating charities:
American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.
Breastcancer.org
Breastcancer.org is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing the most reliable, complete, and up-to-date information about breast cancer. Its mission is to help women and their loved ones make sense of the complex medical and personal information about breast health and breast cancer, so they can make the best decisions for their lives.
It’s the Journey — Atlanta 2-Day Walk
It’s The Journey, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) charitable organization founded in 2002 that raises funds and awareness for Georgia breast cancer organizations offering support to many women and men across the state. Its mission is to strengthen Georgia’s breast cancer community by raising money and awareness for local organizations throughout the state that focus on breast cancer education, screening, early detection, supportive services, and continuing care.
Joy to Life
Joy to Life provides free mammograms and other breast cancer screenings when necessary to medically underserved women in Alabama, provides limited grants when needed, builds and supports breast cancer awareness among all Alabamians, and promotes over-all health, well-being, and education throughout the state.
Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC)
LBBC includes offering specialized programs and services for the newly diagnosed, young women, those living with metastatic breast cancer, African-Americans, those diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer and LGBT people affected by breast cancer. We also offer programs for caregivers and healthcare professionals to help them better meet the needs of people affected by breast cancer.
National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC)
NBCC has been revolutionizing the breast cancer community since its inception in 1991. As an organization, its distinct mission is to end breast cancer through making the disease a priority and embracing the integrity to stand up and challenge the status quo. On September 20, 2010, through its Breast Cancer Deadline 2020® launched September 20, 2010, a call to action for policymakers, researchers, breast cancer advocates and other stakeholders to know how to end the disease by 2020.
At the end of the day we all need to remember to keep going. However, just making it another day doesn’t get us where we truly want to be. We must move with vitality and determination to achieve our goals. We encourage you to power your passion with us in this year’s breast cancer awareness campaign. As Nelson Mandela once said, there is no passion to be found playing small — in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”
