We were on a two-week break for life, visits from family, etc. And what did we do during those family visits? Obviously got lost on Twitter in Immersive Gay Therapy.

To kick off our first post in June, we wanted to showcase a few women we love who happen to love women that you need to follow on Twitter right now.

This week’s newsletter also features stories centered around queer women who are getting recognized for the amazing work they do, so we thought it was only right to pay our respects to the people we’re currently crushing on.

Kristen Arnett — Writer

Her new book, Mostly Dead Things, just dropped this week, and her Twitter is a goddamn treasure trove of hilariousness. From her seemingly daily trips to her local 7-Eleven in Florida to her staunch defense that everything is a ravioli, she’s the type of wit we think the world currently needs.

If you haven’t checked it out already, her beautiful piece for Bon Appétit on taking first dates to Olive Garden is a can’t miss.

Dana Piccoli — Writer, Podcaster, Culture Critic

Dana Piccoli is your Twitter Fairy Gaymother. She wants to help you when your fandom is down (#savewynonna), and she does A LOT for the gay community. She moderates panels at ClexaCon (and runs their official podcast), is the Writer & Managing Editor of BellaMediaChannel.com, and she released her first novel this year, Savor The Moment.

She’s not afraid to share her opinions, and with the scope of her queer knowledge, if you’ve heard about something, she’s probably already written a piece on it.

Jill Gutowitz — Writer

Another Twitter Treasure, Jill Gutowitz is a columnist for Nylon and a writer for Glamour, Vulture, and ELLE. A lot of her work is very queer but published in very historically straight publications which we absolutely love. From pop culture to personal essays, Gutowitz always brings her take-no-prisoners attitude, and again, let me emphasize, it’s very, very gay.

You can check out her profile on Hayley Kiyoko here, or, if you wanna rail against the establishment, check out her piece on the overdone tropes (spoiler & tw: it’s rape) propagated by male screenwriters.

Marie Connor — Comedian

Marie Connor is another of our Twitter favorites. Very gay, very funny, and always ready to take on the trolls in her comments section. And most importantly, she helps us start our day with a daily venting session by asking what we’re annoyed about. I need that kind of negativity in my life.

If you’ll be at Boston Pride this weekend (I shouldn’t have to clarify which one), you can check her out doing a live taping with the folks at Lez Hang Out Podcast. Grab your tickets here.

Heather Hogan — Writer & Editor

Do you ever want to tell someone off in real life but don’t do it? Well, Heather Hogan does, and then she’s kind enough to share the escapades with us on Twitter. We’ve been following Heather Hogan since she was a writer for the now divisive AfterEllen (shout out to those Glee recaps. They were fire.). Thankfully, she still writes and tweets regularly which is a gift to us all.

She’s currently the Managing Editor at Autostraddle and has deservedly gotten herself a seat at the Rotten Tomatoes table as a Tomatometer critic.
