The Day After the Day After Tomorrow

Near the end of the movie The Day After Tomorrow, we learn that a new Ice Age, ironically triggered by global warming, will likely last a long time because the new ice cover over the Northern Hemisphere will reflect sunlight.

If such a disaster should strike, one way of reversing that process would be to color the ice, preferably black. That effort could take a long time and could be costly, but the resulting black ice would absorb rather than reflect sunlight, leading to the ice melting.
