How to make better decisions — an advice from my mom

It’s Saturday morning and as usual, I start my weekend by calling my mom on WhatsApp. Seeing her through the small screen is nothing but comfort to me. She is resting on her side at the bed and talking with me.

‘What are you doing mom?’ — I ask

Mom: ‘Nothing special, I am cooking dinner. I am a bit lazy today so I put pumpkin slices into a bowl, then placed it inside the rice cooking pot and now cooking both at the same time. So now …just waiting…’

Me: ‘Wow, steamed pumpkin is the best and also quite healthy. It sounds so yummy…’

‘What are you going to do today?’ — Mom ask me

‘I don’t know yet…’ — I answer her and drink a glass of water while my mind is flowing back into an event of yesterday and I continue: ‘I am still too tired from the interview yesterday, mom… I think I was exhausted after 2 hours of answering questions…’

‘Was it difficult, dear?’ — she pays attention to me

‘Uhm, not so much, I could answer most of the questions, there was also something I was unsure of, but yeah.’ — I continue answering her while eating my bowl of rice with pickled-green-mustard. ‘I have been thinking about how to make better decisions since yesterday after the interview because…
