Getting to Volubilis in Morocco is pretty straightforward, but it depends on where you’re starting from and how you like to travel. If you’re coming from Meknes, which is pretty close by, you have a few options. You can either join a guided tour from your hotel or a tour operator in Meknes, which usually includes transportation and maybe some other stops along the way. Or, if you prefer more flexibility, you can hire a taxi for the day.

Now, if you’re in Fez and want to make the trip, it’s totally doable too. You can book a guided tour from Fez, similar to the ones from Meknes, or you can go the adventurous route and take a bus to Moulay Idriss, a nearby town. From there, you can either walk to Volubilis, which is about 5 kilometers and offers some great views, or hop in a taxi for a quick ride.

And hey, if you’re feeling independent and want to do your own thing, renting a car is always an option. The roads are decent, and it gives you the freedom to stop wherever you want on the way.

No matter how you get there, visiting Volubilis is totally worth it. The ancient Roman ruins in Morocco are amazing to explore and are surrounded by olive trees. Just make sure to pack some comfy shoes, water, and sunscreen, especially if you plan to hike around the ruins.
