The prince looked at the crowd’s reaction as the first performer began to sing. It was a familiar love song, a rather inoffensive and bland one, but it was a safe choice.
He couldn’t deny that she was pretty, but he wasn’t captivated by her either. There was nothing extraordinary about her.
The crowd applauded once she was done singing. She curtsied without smiling and walked down the steps with an air of nonchalance.
The second lady began singing, and like the first one, she sang something that most of the kingdom was already familiar with. She seemed a bit more outgoing, but again, the prince could see her merely as an acquaintance, not a lover.
The rest of them proceeded in a similar fashion. Most were stiff and proper. However, the lady in the blood red dress sang something that was more fitting for a drinking party, much to the amusement of the crowd. There were two others who sang songs filled with double…
