Hello Mossland community!

The Mossland Hackathon, which started back in August of last year, has finally reached its closing stages.

This hackathon was conducted online in a non-face-to-face format, with participants submitting their projects on GitHub under the theme of Mossland Metaverse content. Emphasis was placed on integrating Mossland Metaverse into the projects.

We sincerely thank all the participants who contributed high-quality projects to the Mossland Hackathon. Through this post, we aim to announce the eagerly awaited winners of the hackathon, as well as provide insights into the process during the hackathon period.

The Mossland Hackathon will continue to be held regularly in the future, providing an opportunity for developers, designers, and planners to create innovative content.

We ask for your continued participation and interest in the Mossland Hackathon.

1. Purpose of Hosting the Hackathon

  • Through the hackathon competition, we recruited content to be created in the Mossland metaverse, which is comprised of a virtual world of pixel art. Our goal was to fill existing buildings with new services or games, or add new buildings with additional content, beyond what was previously available, through the work of participants in the hackathon.

2. Schedule

1st Application Period:

  • We accepted project proposals from applicants until October 30, 2023.

2nd Development Period:

  • Content developed by first-round qualifiers was accepted via GitHub until January 31, 2024. Communication and support for projects were conducted through Discord or email based on projects submitted to GitHub.

3rd Selection and Results Announcement:

  • The evaluation of submitted content has been completed. We plan to select the works and announce the rankings and winners, as well as award prizes, during February 2024.

3. Evaluation and Assessment Criteria

  • Newly created content and design specifically for this competition will be given top priority.
  • Emphasis will be placed on the scale, creativity, and completeness of the content or game.
  • Bonus points will be awarded for submitting two or more works.
  • Teams consisting of planning, design, and development members will receive bonus points.
  • Each project will be evaluated by five developers.

  • The Youquizmoss team, who clinched the 1st place, developed a project centered around quizzes featuring various elements from modern entertainment, including personalities, songs, lyrics, and more. This project not only offers users an enjoyable experience but also provides them with opportunities to acquire knowledge.
In particular, it is equipped with a structure that can be directly added to the Mossland metaverse, making it anticipated to be available in the near future. This signifies the team’s deep understanding of the Mossland metaverse environment and their technical prowess.
Furthermore, the project’s scalability and flexibility were rated highly, suggesting that it can provide users with even easier and more enjoyable experiences in the future.
  • The DoubleDice team secured the 2nd place.
They meticulously considered the design, functionality, and user experience of the game, thereby enhancing its completeness.
They designed it to be easily integrated into the Mossland metaverse, allowing users to enjoy the dice game more interestingly.
It is anticipated that through the dice game, users will be provided with a more satisfying gaming experience.

The team demonstrated their capabilities, particularly in Y2K design, giving the project a unique and trendy feel, reminiscent of the famous FOMO3D in design and crypto history.
Moreover, the ticket-based button pressing system is expected to stimulate competition among participants, thus increasing active engagement within the metaverse community.
As a result, MocoRush’s project is anticipated to add exciting content to the metaverse and provide users with new experiences and designs.
