This can take a toll on a family, a single person or anyone who is on a tight budget. The colder weather which means: long sleeves, pants, shoes and outerwear. Budgeting for the seasonal change wardrobe expenses can be hard but are equally as rewarding.
As a mom myself, I have always been on a budget. Even from having my first job at the age of 15, I budgeted. My love for fashion has always run deep, it goes all the way back to high school even . My first job even was in retail!
Going to a technical high school, I concentrated in fashion and interior design, which fed into my love for fashion. Now over 10 years later having my first child I use my budgeting skills like it’s my job. As you get older things change which may even be your style or beauty routine. Who knew using the same piece and styling it in different ways can be so easy.
Here are 5 tips on saving money while being hip this Fall:
- Have a t-shirt or cotton dress? Wear a blazer, jacket, or cardigan over the dress and you have a brand new outfit. It also works when the weather gets crisper.
- Have a lightweight cotton, bodycon or a lightweight mini skirt? Use it as an infinity scarf.
- Find something you love in the store? Be sure to check their website to see if they have the same item. More than likely it will be cheaper online. Target is a great place to start. Also, wait until Sundays. That’s when the new sales come out for every week.
- Have you heard of threadUP? It’s simple to use! You send out the clothes you don’t wear or fit anymore and earn money from them. If you don’t like the idea of threadUP you can always go to the nearest thrift or consignment shop. Sometimes they offer cash back or will give you a price and are able to purchase in store items. Thrift shops always have great items for a fraction of the cost of going to a department or discount store.
- Like being crafty? Check out your nearest craft stores; Michaels, Ac Moore, Hobby Lobby and any others I missed. These stores have great items you can DIY or that are already made. Target has some amazing plain white ts and scarfs too. Normally $1-$5 items that are great quality.
Fall is a great time of year! With these 5 tips you’ll be able to spend more on your other fall addictions while not breaking the bank on being fashionable. Looking your best while being frugal is key.
