Snap & Shop: Shop Feature on Motherhood: Breaking the Looking Glass

Have you ever been out running errands with your littles and wondered “Is there an easier way to NOT make a mess with all these snacks?”. Well one Mama has solved that problem for us all. Julie is a mother to two girls and created the Snap & Shop to make errand running a breeze!

The tray comes in three colors, pink, blue and aqua. It is simple to snap onto the cart AND clean, yes it is dishwasher safe. The plus side is the tray can be used for many other activities too, like holding crayons and paper and even a lunchbox when the kids are older.

Julie answered some of our questions about how her shop started and where she sees it going. We are so excited for this product and think you will be too! Follow them on Instagram to see other moms using her products.

Our Q & A with Julie:

1. Tell us a little about you, your shop and what you offer.

I’m Julie Penrod, Mom of 2 girls, 6 & 9 and I’m married to my high school sweetheart. I’m a busy Mom like all the other amazing Moms out there balancing life, work and some in between me-time

My shop is Snap & Shop. Snap & Shop is the shopping cart snack tray that make shopping with kids a SNAP! Snap & Shop is easy to use, portable, provides a clean surface to feed your child their favorite snacks and is parent and kid approved! It’s easy to pack up before heading to the store, small enough to fit in your bag and allows for convenient snack refills while shopping. Cleaning is a “snap” with wipes while at the store and in the dishwasher when you get home. Snap & Shop is offered in 3 great colors, blue, pink & aqua.

2. What inspired you to open your shop?

I launched Snap & Shop when my youngest started sitting up in the grocery cart. I was so excited to have her as my shopping partner! She loved to eat everything mushy…bananas, blueberries, tomatoes, etc. The shopping cart cover would be a complete disaster and we couldn’t go more than one errand.

I decided to create Snap & Shop out of my need for having somewhere to let her eat her snacks and let me get through my list, have her situated and happy and be able to run multiple errands. By solving my problem I knew it would benefit other parents out there who find it a struggle to go shopping with their kids.

3. How would you describe your shop’s style? What is one thing you hope your customers feel/think when using your products?

I want my customers to feel less stress, have more fun shopping with their kids and be able to make their shopping experience more enjoyable. It’s inevitable that Moms have to shop with their littles so why not make it easier and more enjoyable!

4. What is your favorite item from your shop? Why?

Since I only carry the one line I’d have to say the Snap & Shop

5. If you could give one piece of advice to fellow mamas on starting a business, what would it be?

Persevere! If you feel like you have an idea that you truly think you could make a reality, know that the road ahead isn’t continually smooth but stay strong and keep going through every bump and believe in yourself to make it successful. Also, surrounding yourself with a strong support network is a MUST!

6. When you get really busy how do you balance running your business and being a Mama?

I truly try and prioritize every day but as a Mom there is always something that comes up that takes me off course.

My mornings and early afternoons are spent working and once the kids get home I try to make it a point to be with the kids but there are often afternoons that are spent working as well. Getting out and having fun breaks with the kids is great for all of us! Then once they are in bed, I work in the evenings to catch up on the items that weren’t addressed during the day.

7. Where do you see your shop 1 year from now? 5 years from now?

In a year I hope to be running a successful online business and have Snap & Shop’s carried in boutiques nationwide. I would love to be have Snap & Shop grow and be in big box retailers with a whole line of attachments by 5 years from now.

8. What are you most proud of with your shop?

Actually making it to a point where it is now a reality and having other Moms use it and say how much of a game changer it is with their kids and loving using Snap & Shop!
