SproutFit shop feature on Motherhood

Have you ever wondered why you spend SO much on clothes for your child(ren)? I KNOW I have… many many many times!! They outgrow everything so fast and then you are left with bins, boxes and tubs FULL of old clothes. Seems like a waste of money and fabric if you ask me!

Whitney, the founder of SproutFit, had the same feeling regarding her little one’s clothes. To solve the problem she designed clothes that grow with your child. The really neat part is ONE outfit will last 12 months… yes you read that right!

After seeing what Whitney had to offer with SproutFit I HAD to tell you all. 8 items from her line can make up to 60 different outfit combos, which makes it less than $5 per outfit. You could literally spend less than $5 on an outfit that lasts for 12 months!!!!

Whitney is hosting her pre-order on Kickstarter starting February 24th. Download it now and set up your free account! You won’t want to miss the early bird specials Whitney is offering to the first few pre-orders she receives.

I did a little Q & A with Whitney about SproutFit. She is such a sweetheart and I cannot wait until every Mama is able to use her brilliant products! Follow SproutFit on Instagram and Facebook for updates and don’t forget to sign up for their newsletter too!

Q & A with Whitney:

  1. What inspired you to start SproutFit?

As a brand new (and blissfully exhausted) mama, I quickly gravitated toward things that made life easier and more efficient. Relationships with supportive, REAL moms, bottles that didn’t leak, apps that tracked nursing and sleeping, products with multi-functionality and use beyond a month. Balancing my marriage, career, friendships, and self-care, all while giving Beckham the best of me, was challenging! Momguilt greeted me at every decision crossroad, so early on, I worked to simplify and streamline where I could.

One night, I was sitting in my son’s closet sifting through the clothes he’d outgrown, or couldn’t wear anymore. This was a monthly or bimonthly occurrence, but on this occasion, I remember tallying up the totes of clothes and feeling sick to my stomach.

Before B was 12 months old, we had accumulated six 30-gallon totes of clothes he outgrew, or couldn’t even wear. When something finally fit him comfortably, a month later, he needed the next size. So, from frustration and momguilt sprouted the idea for childrenswear that solves problems instead of creating more!

2. What makes your clothing line unique? What are the sizes you offer for your baby clothing line?

  • SproutFit is adjustable. Your baby has a comfy, everyday fit — even through growth spurts!
  • SproutFit has simplified sizing. Instead of 7 sizes in baby’s first 24 months, how about JUST 2? (0–12m and 12–24m)
  • SproutFit is responsibly made in the USA. Modern-slavery is alive and well. Unfortunately, the garment industry is one of the worst offenders of human rights. We refuse to exacerbate the global slavery and child labor issues by manufacturing overseas with no transparency or checks and balances. Our factory pays year-round living wages to it’s employees and is proud to be preserving domestic factory work!
  • SproutFit is eco-friendly. All of our products* are made from a bamboo jersey knit blend (*bibs are backed with organic cotton microfleece). Bamboo is one of the planet’s most organically renewable resources — it just does it’s thing! No fertilizers, pesticides, or even replanting needed! How sustainable is THAT?
  • SproutFit is baby-friendly. Our fabrics’ benefits for baby are indisputable: ultra-soft, anti-microbial, hypoallergenic, moisture wicking, and thermo-regulating: cool in the summer, warm in the winter.
  • SproutFit is momguilt-free. Let’s be honest: less closet shuffling, fewer shopping trips, less clothing in our landfills… more time for the important things. That’s what we’re all about!
  • SproutFit’s colors all complement each other. All bodysuits, leggings and bandana bibs can be worn with any color — easy mix-match-repeat!

3. How does your company help moms save money when looking for baby clothes? How much do moms usually spend on baby clothes versus how much they’d spend with yours?

We created SproutFit with a less-is-more approach in mind.

For example, our mini-capsule collection (8 items for $259 Kickstarter pre-order price) will make 60 unique outfit combinations. Even better, those outfit combinations will last through 12 months of growth spurts!

If you break it down by outfit, that’s $4.32/outfit. Can you remember the last time you paid less than $5 for your baby’s outfit AND got 12 months of wear out of it?

4.When can we pre-order from you? And where?

We are offering introductory pre-order prices ONLY through Kickstarter starting February 24th — March 26th.

The link will go live on Kickstarter February 24th. In the meantime, go sign up for Kickstarter so you are locked and loaded to follow the campaign when the time comes!

5. What are your plans after a successful Kickstarter campaign?

After a successful campaign (March 27), we will go into production and work to fulfill our Kickstarter backers’ pre-orders by May 31. During that time, our shop will be open for orders which will be fulfilled directly after our backers’ pre-orders are complete.

6. What is really important to you for your company to focus on moving forward?

“Why didn’t they do anything?” — Future Generations.

That quote terrifies me! As a mom, I want my kids to be proud of our family’s attempt to do our part defending human rights, protecting American jobs, environmental sustainability, and simply making busy families’ lives easier!

In addition to enriching our core values, you will see strategic partnerships and collaborations with groups that fight to improve life for those less fortunate, protect children and support women entrepreneurs.
