Stefani from The Crafty Christian

Hello loves! We are thrilled to introduce you to this week’s Mama Feature, Stefani from The Crafty Christian. She is the Mama to two little boys and happily married.

If you love healthy recipes and fun crafts, she will become your new favorite Mama blogger! She regularly posts deliciously healthy recipes that will become your family’s next favorite meal. We also believe that Pinterest has nothing on her crafting skills and she has such cute ideas. ❤

You can read about what Stefani makes and writes about on her blog. She also is very active on Instagram and shares recipes and photos of her daily adventures there too!

Stefani was kind enough to answer our questions about her journey in Motherhood and what’s important to her…

Our Q & A with Stefani:

1. Tell us a little about yourself, how many kid(s) you have, married/not-married, what you do for work and hobbies you have.

I’m a Certified Children & Family Health Coach, and a crunchy homeschooling mama to two boys. I met my husband on a plane in 2009, and we got married in 2011. My first son, Lucas was born in 2012 and my second son Micah came along in 2014. I am very much the princess of the house, but I love being surrounded by my boys!

I blog at The Crafty Christian about healthy living and chronic illness. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune thyroid disease in early 2015 and then Lyme disease in June 2016, so I focus on natural healing of the body with food and supplements. I want to give hope to others out there that may be suffering that medication isn’t the only option, and healing is possible.

In my spare time I enjoy doing crafts, finding fun recipes, drinking coffee, shopping online, and hanging out with my family. I love Jesus, living in Charlotte, and anything DIY. HGTV and wine sounds like a perfect night to me!

2. What would your pre-kid self think about you now if they had the chance to meet you?

Oh, my pre-kid self would probably think that I’m pretty lame with my endless yoga pants, Netflix binges and early bedtimes. But I also think that my pre-kid self is pretty lame with her coordinated outfits, young complexion and perfect hair, so we’re even.

3. What are you most proud of?

I’m most proud of the healthy changes that I’ve made in my family so that my kids can avoid the health problems that I’ve encountered. I want to raise them with healthy habits and thorough knowledge of the power of food and their bodies so they are more careful than I was about what they put in their bodies.

4. What is one thing you gave up after becoming a Mama, why?

I gave up a lot of self care when I became a mama, because my kids needed so much more of me than I needed myself. But I’ve since realized that I need to give myself some attention too, because then I’m a better Mama to them when I take care of myself better.

5. What is one thing you do now that you SWORE you’d never do before becoming a parent that you now do?

I never thought I’d be the mom that turns on the TV on for them just to get a few things done. But I do, and I don’t feel the least bit guilty about it!

6. Tell us about your most rewarding moment in motherhood.

I have so many rewarding moments, but one of the most rewarding was seeing my 3 year old stand up for his 1 year old brother at the playground. Totally made this Mama’s heart melt!

7. Describe your most challenging moment in motherhood.

I think the entire year between 3 and 4 with Lucas was one long, challenging moment. Trying to figure out what punishments he responds to, letting him figure things out without getting hurt, and encouraging his personality development without encouraging the attitude that comes with it. And goodness, was there attitude.

8. What do you do for only yourself now? If you don’t do something just for yourself now, why not?

I love taking epsom salt baths a couple of times a week. Not only is it great for detox, which I need with my health issues, but it’s so relaxing. I take that time and I just enjoy sitting alone. I also do some guided meditation sometimes and that is so great for helping me feel refreshed afterward.

9. What are you really good at with being a Mama?

I’m really great at knowing what my kids need. It’s that special mama sense that knows what the cry means, what will help them feel better, and the best way to make them feel loved.

10. How did this questionnaire make you feel?

It made me feel pretty good about the job I’m doing! I’m in no way perfect or have it all together, but I love my family and I think I do a pretty good job loving them.
