The future-looking approach for enterprise content management

Composability is the next step for organizations looking to accelerate their digital transformation. While this term is certainly broad and well-used from an analyst standpoint, it does represent a real, ongoing trend in content management strategies that are shifting quickly to modular, composable architectures to enable business agility.

A composable architecture starts with going API-first (headless), which is the decoupling of the presentation layer (or experience layer) from the application layer. This allows enterprise content managers to maintain a consistent, single-user experience to the customer, even if the content and functional elements on the page are “composed” from one or more different sources, applications, and services.

Moreover, with this decoupled and modular architecture, businesses can easily swap out these content-driven applications and services without the disruption, pain, and costs a traditional, monolithic replatforming would inflict. Gone are the days of vendor lock-in, nasty upgrades and the inability to take ideas to execution. Composability gives organizations the ability to consistently leverage and maintain modern, low-code, best-of-breed technology and services to meet the marketplace’s evolving needs today and tomorrow.

Becoming composable does not happen by the flick-of-a-switch, it’s a journey. There is a mentality and systems approach that needs to be incorporated into your strategic thinking first before it can be migrated to your tech stack.

This is where Motiv’s content experts and their flagship solution, ImpulseSync™, can provide the ability to quickly establish and maintain a modular architecture and composable strategy. ImpulseSync™ provides the integration, storage, and automation to ensure all applications are in sync and harmonized to compose. ImpulseSync™ also allows organizations to swap out these modularized applications by providing a lift-and-shift migration capability that creates agility in leveraging the best technology for your business.

“Composable architecture helps organizations distribute responsibilities in a way that brings business and technology into an organic continuum”

A composable digital business applies the core principles of composability (modularity, autonomy, orchestration and discovery) to the foundations of its business architecture (the business model, enterprise operations and strategy) in order to master the risk of change and reach untapped business value.
