A person can think of irrational thoughts. These thoughts are based on misconceptions, desires, and fears that are not based on reality.

How to reduce the frequency of irrational thoughts?. Here are 3 steps you can adopt today:

Acceptance: Don’t label yourself. You think what you believe. Accept you are a human being, and you are here to experience life. Life will welcome you with happy moments and also add some struggling moments to make you strong.

Maintain a thought log sheet: What is a thought log sheet?

The sheet will act like your journal. Divide the sheet into three columns- Disturbing events or thoughts/Trigger or Behaviour/Rational Counterstatement.

For example:

Event: Starting a new task, I am not sure how to start.

Irrational Thought: What if I made a mistake while doing this task? People will judge me and then you are just stuck in the loop.

Rational Counterstatement: It’s ok. Calm down. Let’s take a deep breath and start working on the task. It is completely ok to make mistakes. Just Give your best, and the most immeasurable part is you are learning something new. A new experience in your life.

Be kind to your soul: Don’t bombard your innocent soul with irrational thoughts. He is just tired as you have never appreciated him in life. Even you expect a promotion or raise in a company for doing a good job. So, why will he not expect anything? And here, he only needs some kindness.

So, what will you do today? Will you try these steps to improve your life? Take a break and give some time for mental health.

Also, if you are ready to take some time out today, do write a letter to yourself.
