Oprah Winfrey: True forgiveness is when you can say, “Thank you for that experience.”

Forgiveness isn’t just nodding when someone softly says, “sorry”,

Walking away with a heart as burdensome as before.

It is the awareness that the other understands,

And has felt the need to say so.

Whether the ‘sorry’ meant something or not,

It is not for you to know.

Just know that you’ve got to rise above being grudging and small,

Coz’ saying sorry can be a tough call.

Know that things you don’t like can happen again,

And you can be hurt and upset, life goes on and you’ve got to remain sane.

Forgiveness is not about damaging bridges,

It is an attitude, freeing judgment, and grudges.

Move on feeling lighter each day,

Finding a higher purpose — for anger, insults and injuries are there to stay.

Mark Twain: Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.
