Happy Monday! Hope you are doing well, and if you are not feeling yourself lately, It’s OK. Accepting your emotions at this stage is more important.

There are many ways to help yourself feel better, but rarely is it recommended to use something other than therapy. Have you ever met a therapist? Were you relaxed after having a conversation?

We have heard about how therapy can change the thought “life is hard, and I need to survive it”.

But the question is-Is therapy really working for you?

Bouncing between therapists can lead to less satisfaction in the therapeutic experience. And, choosing the right therapist to address your personal needs is important.

We need to understand how therapy works for us to have a positive experience.

Few Things We Need to Understand About Therapy:

  • You won’t see a miracle within 2–3 sessions. It’s important to understand therapy doesn’t create miracles after the first session itself. Therapy is a continuous effort you and your therapist give in to make your life beautiful.
  • Therapists help you change the thought pattern and are not there to provide solutions to every problem.
  • You might disagree with therapists at a few moments as you are perceiving things from a different angle.

Signs You Are not Growing in Therapy:

  • You are anxious every time you visit your therapist.
  • You are afraid of thinking about the therapist’s judgment.
  • After completing the session, you feel you are at fault.
  • You are drowning in guilt.

Remember, they are there for you, and creating an open space for everyone is what they always try to inculcate.

If you don’t feel comfortable after a few sessions also, you can request your therapist to perceive things differently. They will surely change their way of dealing as they understand what a client wants from them.

And after requesting if you still feel you are stuck within the loop of thoughts, it’s time to ask for help from another therapist.

Remember,

  • It’s completely Ok to take help from therapists.
  • It’s OK if you don’t find a perfect therapist on your first attempt.
