The Following Poem has been translated from local spitian dialect of Tibetan
in which it is recited in spiti .
The poem is a lovely reminder that

whilst superficially we all appear different ,
beneath the surface we are all very much alike.

somewhere near Dhangkar ( spiti valley )

Where do you come from bird ?
From the east.
and how was the east ?
the same as here .

Bird , where do you come from ?
From the south
an how is the south
the same as here ,

Bird where do you come from ?
from the West
an how is the west ?
the same as here ,

Bird where do you come from
From the North,
and how is the north
The same as here ,

Bird How did your head come to be so different ?
Its not so different ,
i got it from nature , like everything else

How are your eyes so different ?
they are not so different
they are same as everyone’s else’s

and your shoulder ?
they are the same

What about your arm ?
they are same ,
when we bend the right arm its for food
when we bend the left arm its for water

and how about you bowl for eating
It is just like yours

The same.
