This 1956 Jaguar XK140 SE has spent all of its life on the West Coast in California and was sold new in Los Angeles. Until recently, it was parked for over 20 years but has been brought back to life. This car is in running condition with an extremely solid body. Don’t let the faded paint fool you; this is a solid California vehicle! It would be a tough decision on whether to leave this car in its “as-found” state or to use it as a nice, solid starting point for a high-quality restoration. This Jaguar is currently for sale by Dusty Cars and can be found here on eBay with an asking price of $38,995.

The interior is in comparably solid condition to the exterior. The real wood trim and dash is looking a little worse for the wear, but all of it is there and it looks intact. A skilled restorer or woodworker could put this interior back to looking like new with a little work! The seats and door panels appear to be in excellent condition, and have recently been cleaned up to a nice shine. These seats are of an unusual design, but certainly look comfortable!

Surprisingly, this car has a back seat (if you can call it that)! Perhaps this would be suitable for children, but it seems unlikely that fully-grown adults would be comfortable back there. Much like the front seat area, everything but the actual seat material is looking a little rough. The seats are in good, useable condition and have cleaned up quite well.

The engine is described as “runs evenly on all cylinders.” The seller also notes that this is not the original engine for this particular Jaguar, but it is the correct engine for the model Jaguar that it is. While this lowers the value of the car, it increases the likelihood that someone won’t be afraid to take this car out and enjoy it! To anyone other than the owner, this will look like the original and correct engine. When new, the XK140 was capable of a 120–125MPH top speed and produced 210bhp.

This Jaguar has some genuinely clean and smooth bodylines and is truly a combination of sporty and regal. The patina on this car is truly a characteristic of the vehicle that helps tell the story of its life, and unlike many vehicles sold with “patina,” this car is as solid as can be underneath. The seller has included many, many pictures in the eBay listing and appears to be representing the car honestly. This Jaguar would surely turn lots of heads at any event!
