Biking Via Francigena
Mountain bike trip in the land of beauty
Take some minutes to read…and relax, you’ll be thrown in the past!
The trip start from Monteriggioni, a beautiful medieval village, arrives in Siena and come back with another trail, and it’s almost on the Via Francigena. After a brief tour of Monteriggioni village we’ll start biking.
The white roads crossing the typical land of Tuscany will make every cyclist happy, because the panorama is very very nice!
Since we started biking we can notice sometimes the original path, made of stones, and it seems to be in an ancient time, riding with our “iron horses with wheels” ☺
The trip is not difficult, about 50 km, we can admire many villages and castles such as the “Castello della Chiocciola”, close to the Via Francigena.
We go on and after taking some pics we arrive to a particular place: San Leonardo al Lago, where there is an Abbey, and very close there is place where we can take a break and a little snack. A tunnel, which functions as water drain (2 km long), is part of a reclaim made some century ago in that area. Very interesting to see.. but
