Aptos, one of the newest major entrants to the Layer 1 space, is a blockchain seeking to provide the safest and most scalable L1 to date. Founders M. Shaikh (CEO) and Avery Ching (CTO), began developing Aptos after the regulation-pressured dissolution of Diem, a crypto payments project by Meta. This new fundamental looks to promise better security, consensus, decentralization and performance, allowing more Dapps to secureuly build on Aptos. So what does that look like? While Aptos has not launched on main net yet, there are already 100 projects in development.

Some of the projects building in DeFi and Dexes on Aptos. See the full-list here.

So far, Aptos has seen institutional support via its $350 million in total funding by some of the most prominent institutional crypto investors.

Why Aptos?

Aptos is distinct from current blockchains in that all transactions are processed concurrently whereby validation occurs subsequently. Through this feature, a failed transaction will not obstruct proceeding on-chain transactions, and unsuccessful transactions are re-executed at a later time.

Parallel transaction processing occurs through Aptos’ Block-STM engine detects and manages transaction conflicts and allows for more efficient transactions and lower costs and latency for users. Block-STM is arguably the most impactful feature powering Aptos’ efficiency however, consensus upgrades, critical path catching, transaction hints, and delta writes also will continue to enhance efficiency over time.

Map of the Current Aptos Ecosystem

We looked at over 50 projects built on Aptos to map out the current ecosystem. With DApps built across NFTs, DeFi, Wallets, and more the budding ecosystem already has developers building across the ecosystem.

While DeFi is usually the first DApps on an ecosystem, Aptos is already seeing Socialfi and Launchpads on their testnet.

Analytics

In each ecosystem, analytical tools are developed to help track tokens and transactions from NFT to DeFi, with them visibility into the ecosystem is clearer. Projects like AptosScan provides blockchain query, DeFi, and NFT data analysis, while Aptosphere provides real-time, indexed on-chain activity for Aptos.

Bridge

Mover is one of the first bridges on Aptos bridging between EVM networks and Aptos.

Dexes

Dexes are by far the most popular Dapp built on Aptos. Hippo Labs for example is a comprehensive aggregation mechanism on Aptos, working with infra providers like Layer Zero Labs, Switchboard, and Swim Protocol to ensure peak user experience. For swaps, look at HoustonSwap, the first CLMM model on Aptos. Other AMMs like TidalSwap and Hanson are also building traction.

DeFi

For general DeFi Dapps there are liquidity hubs, passive income strategies, incentivized prediction platforms, lending, and staking. Hythos is a simple yet elegant prediction platform for Aptos. For oracles, BasiQ Protocol ensures fairest prices for users via price oracle integration. Tsunami Finance offers some of the lowest slippage rates on market.

Infra

With just a few infra projects built on Aptos so far, we can look at Imperi, a treasury management service for Aptos, and SynthMeta, which is constructing a metaverse portal that connects the traditional financial through exchanges, NFTs, digital identity infrastructure.

Launchpads

Launchpads help new projects get discovered, while also offering liquidity to users.

Orion, the first fundraising platform on Aptos is an on-chain democratic fundraising platform. For more community driven launchpads, look at AptosLaunch and Meeiro user-driven, decentralized IDO launchpads.

NFTs

NFTs help onboard more users onto the ecosystem. Pick up domain names at Aptos Name Service. With 4 marketplaces in testnet ready to launch, there are plenty for buyers to choose from. See ItsRare, BlueMove, Topaz, and Pond. For 1/1 art take a look at SeaShrine.

SocialFi

Knoknok Metaverse is building a decentralized play-to-earn and social-to-earn mobile platform (Built on Aptos, Ethereum and Polygon). Date3 is the first dating app on Aptos, see user profiles on-chain.

Wallet

There are several wallets to choose from in the Aptos ecosystem.

Wallets are usually the first interaction users have with a chain and Aptos already has over 10 to pick from. With many more wallets integrating Aptos.

Pontem, Fewcha, Petra are some of the wallets users can choose to use in the Aptos ecosystem. Momentum Safe is building a multi-Signature treasury management solution and wallet.

Mobius — Decentralized non-custodial liquidity market protocol

Cross-chain Integrations

As Aptos continues to grow, we’ll see more and more dapps build integrations to the new chain such as Blocto, Coin98, Figment, and more.
