Poetry

beyond the jungle and across the gulf
lies the land of my youth and the home of my broken dreams.

i had to leave you in order to come back,
but this time, I have new eyes.

if I am delusional, correct me.

are you simply a huge professional structure built
to keep us amused and distracted

while your people butcher each other with judgments
and hook themselves on self-improvement plans

and religion

and politics

and business

and credentials

and education

and food

and drink

and relationships

and kids

and sex

to escape the abyss within themselves
where personal dragons bathe in patience?

my instinct tells me that you are more, but since
your roots are feminine, the secret is subtle.

Of all the questions I have in my chest, one dominates: What are you?

i had to leave you in order to come back,
but this time, i have new eyes.
