It’s Too Much To Bear

For The Nurses That Would Go On Strike

She was kneeling down,
her skin turning gray,
eyes a distant sun.
Still, they did not give.
She tried to stand,
the burden remaining pressed against her back.
The war was over.
Too many casualties.
Too many tired souls.
They continued on,
turning gray, becoming stone.
They just needed to breathe,
needed their struggles to be recognized.
