Love Lost
A poem (TW: abuse and self-harm)
— Music Tea —
Poems are an artistic experience shared between the creator and the audience. But not everyone’s experiences with art are linear. Some may request enhancers to the experience such as having music during their reading.
For those who would like to have some Music Tea, I offer you a song that I feel connects best with the piece provided. I hope you enjoy my selection for you.
Title: Richter: III. Mrs. Dalloway: War Anthem
Love Lost
When I was young,
But a child
Unaware
Of reality, of life,
You found out
Who I was,
Who I really am,
Naturally;
You beat me for it.
Though you aren’t religious,
You said I would go to Hell,
You said I was disgusting,
You said I was an abomination;
You said I wasn’t your son.
You threw everything at me,
To see what would stick;
And it all stuck to me…
After that, I went on
Semi-living;
Attempting to find
Your love lost,
I searched for
Redemption, forgiveness in
God’s eye;
For favor
But forever
Feeling unclean, unworthy.
In my poetry,
It shows pain and love;
Because the ink flows
From my heart’s blood;
Wounded and marked
By your beatings.
You read
My poetry,
Thank you;
But,
My suicide note
Will provide more than
My poetry ever could.
— The Why —
I do not understand how one’s fate is determined before seeing the light after birth. For many, their determined fate is not a pleasant journey.
Life given should be a life respected from birth to grave; however, this is not usually the course, even in one’s own family. The pain and weight of the scars given through that life experience sometimes create marks that are forever felt.
Be well, my friends.
