The Girl in the Woods

Photo by Filip Zrnzević on Unsplash

The way the dark creases the sky in that
slender spot, a spider’s thread, by the horizon.

It is that moment of gauze when the girl
curls an arm in greeting, the sun hardly propelled.

She wills the numb iciness of the stars to roll
off her shoulders in swells, as the trance rolls too.

Passionate about poetry; mine is a work in progress. I’m an editor who reads a lot, but when I read in my free time, I don’t change a word. Love to paddleboard!
