When the Other listens
          ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤin that gentle way

My voice, my words, held
          ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤin tender hands

— yes and yes —

And when the Other listens
          ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤin that Liquid Way

Sacred hands feel into my chest
          ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤto embrace my Liquid Heart

Writer’s notes: This little poem discovered itself during a short writing session inspired by a prompt drawn from “The Dream Keepers,” by Langston Hughes. I sat Zooming with a group of other poet/mystics in “Opening the Mystic Heart through Poetry,” a poetry circle created and lead by the beautiful heart of Susan O’Connell.

This is just one offering through The Institute for Poetic Medicine, whose mission is to offer “tools and support to heal body, mind, and spirit through the creative and therapeutic process of hearing, speaking, and writing poetry.” To say I recommend it is, as they say, an understatement.
