Here, you will learn the three basic steps you’ll need to take to start a movement
#1: An Idea
It all starts out with your big idea. The idea definitely isn’t everything, but it is the thing that you are going to need to get started with making an impact.
Whether your idea to form a DAO is part of an existing project or business or is a brand new creation, it can become a Movement. Existing DAOs can also be migrated to become Movements and get access to better tools and an ecosystem of mission-aligned community members and projects.
Examples of Movements can be:
- Community-owned project to save the environment
- A DAO focused on creating NFT art to fund humanitarian projects
- A community of marketers focused on providing services to impact projects
- A DAO governed, free to use protocol on Ethereum
As illustrated above, Movement ideas can be broad ranging. As long as they help make a positive impact, they can qualify as a Movement.
#2: A community
Community is the most important part of any Web3 project or DAO. Getting people behind your idea or project is how you’re going to build your Movement’s treasury so that you can go execute and create impact.
The best way to get a community behind you is to go talk about your idea or project, like on social media, through articles, or in Discord communities with like-minded people (like Movement DAO’s).
Getting early feedback is a good way to validate your idea and get early supporters who will help you craft and execute your vision.
#3: The tools
Now that you have a project, you’ll need to start architecting your Movement. This is where the fun begins!
Movement DAO is making it simple to develop a Movement, helping communities get the resources they need to launch it successfully, sustain it for the long-run, and make the biggest impact possible. These tools span governance, treasury, and more.
Your community will likely want to eventually issue some token and raise capital so that the community can work towards its mission, cover expenses, and compensate contributors. In doing so, it provides a means for your community to govern itself with governance tokens or NFTs that community members can use to vote on and create proposals.
The MOVE platform that Movement DAO is building is a no-code platform that lets you customize your treasury and governance tokens or NFTs, as well as your governance model. When you set up your project on MOVE, your community can contribute ETH or other supported cryptocurrencies to the treasury and receive a predefined amount of tokens (fungible or non-fungible).
Projects can customize the incentives of their treasury funding, allocating more tokens for earlier contributors or minting NFTs for certain funding amounts, for example.
Projects can also define their tokenomic models in order to build continuous funding models. Treasury revenue could come from token holders selling or trading their tokens, rather than just from net new contributions to the treasury. Projects can also create full-featured NFT projects from within their MOVE treasury to generate additional revenue, ensuring the Movement has the capital to sustain its operations long-term.
Movements also enjoy opportunities for recurring capital in the form of DeFi yield with a managed treasury service, referred to as the Endowment, that they can contribute a portion of the capital their treasury raises to.
Lastly, Movement DAO helps to handle a Movement’s liquidity, using the platform fees to create LP so that the Movement has easy access to liquidity for its governance token without having to spend additional capital.
