Black History Month 2021

October is Black History Month in the UK, and we want to feature work by black creatives, and work that tells stories of black history!

Blackhistorymonth.co.uk have launched the 2021 campaign with a series of educational videos, and a comprehensive resource pack for people of all backgrounds to learn about Black History more in depth, including school children. The theme this year is ‘Proud to be’ and the work being shared reflects that.

As we look forward to celebrating Black History Month this October. The month kicks off with an exhibition of Jamaican art from one of the world’s most prolific collectors of Jamaican Art — London-baed Jamaican Cultural Activist Theresa Roberts.

Theresa is opening her private residence to launch Black History Month 2021 with an exclusive private viewing of 15 pieces of art from 11 Jamaican artists based in Jamaica, the USA and the UK, including Jamaican-born human rights lawyer David Neita.

The pieces are all viewable online here for anyone not attending the private viewing on October 1st

In order to uplift creatives of all kinds in our community, we’re once again taking submissions of work to be promoted throughout October.
