Social & Local, along with industry leaders Nabs, the IPA and the Advertising Association, have this week launched a new initiative, calling on other leaders to implementing the Brilliant Creative Minds Code of Conduct.

The 8 codes of conduct are simple — and aimed at improving mental health provisions in the industry.

“Poor mental wellbeing is the enemy of creativity in our industry and our goal is to eradicate practices that cause unnecessary and dangerous levels of stress in agency environments.

“We’d like the industry to sign up to it and commit to embedding its principles within organizations to create an industry where negative workplace stress is reduced, talent is retained and the UK protects its pole position in the world for creativity as clients, once again, get the best out of their agencies.” — Stephanie Drakes, Managing Partner, Social & Local.

The campaign is specific to the advertising and communications industry, aiming to solve some key issues;

  • long hours culture and fear of job loss in agencies;
  • excessive tender requirements and procurement processes;
  • unrealistic client timescales and demands.

The project also includes an extensive PDF on how exactly to apply the codes in your organisation, which can be downloaded here .

The list of signatories is impressive already, and shows a really attitude for improvement in the industry, from a huge variety of agencies and individuals.
