UNDERDOGS

  1. LeRoy Garrett — 7 seasons, 2 finals, (7–3) elimination record, biggest achievements: 2nd Exes 2, 3rd Rivals 1, 4 elimination wins on Exes 2, 7 elimination wins are against!!!(Wes 2x, Bananas 2x, Johnny Reilly, Zach, and Cohutta). Last appearance: Season 28 Rivals 3. LeRoy is the greatest male competitor to never win a Challenge. He has been a mainstay for the Challenge since the 2010s, as he has been on 7 of the last 8 seasons, even when he didn’t really fit the themes that well(Rivals 2, and Rivals 3). MTV made a commitment to this dude and his easy going personality and beastly physical attributes. LeRoy made a statement on his first Challenge, making it to the final with his friend Mike Ross on Rivals 1. In a game of vets, they made friends, won timely challenges, and intimidated people with LeRoy’s raw strength and Mike’s intelligence. From there it was a bunch of tough losses for him. He was stuck with Naomi on Exes 1(but not before he executed Wes), had to deal with Ty on Rivals 2, and got CT’d out of Free Agents. On Exes 2, LeRoy’s inability to politic and not having a good teammate did not matter anymore. He won 4 eliminations, two against Johnny Bananas, and physically dominated people en route to a close second place finish. LeRoy was so close to the win that it felt like he would get it soon. On Bloodlines his cousin Candice was one of the worst competitors, but even worse is that they were eliminated early due to her breaking her toe. On Rivals 3, him and Averey was a weird pairing, but he got an incredible partner for a weak season. The bad part is that he hurt his back slipping on some steps and was unable to compete. LeRoy not being on the underdogs feels wrong. Seasons like this and the Ruins are about the person who hasn’t won trying to breakthrough and finally holding the big check for themselves. We need to see LeRoy holding that check one day.
  2. Cohutta Grindstaff — 4 seasons, 0 finals, (3–3) elimination record, biggest achievements: slaying 2 champs on the Ruins, first to ever defeat Wes in an elimination, 6th Free Agents, dated KellyAnne and Nany, and almost hooked up with Susie. Last appearance : Season 27 Bloodlines. On his first true season of the Challenge, the Ruins, Cohutta made a name for himself as he was the only guy on the entire challenger/underdog team to defeat a Champ in an elimination — taking out 2 in Wes and Syrus. Syrus had over 100 lbs on Cohutta, but Cohutta showed more skill and determination defeating the giant. He was the elimination Kingslayer as he took out Wes who was a career 8–0 in eliminations at the time, and had already executed two of the other underdogs on the season. The best part/problem with the Ruins is that when you defeat someone in an elimination, you take the money out of the opponents bank account. Cohutta’s bank account kept making him a target for the Champs, and Darrell eventually knocked him out. We didn’t see Cohutta for a long time until he showed up on Free Agents where he had fun, acted as a modern day Romeo with Nany as his Juliet, and then beasted most of the daily Challenges, only for LeRoy to pull the kill card in a game purely based on size. On Bloodlines, Cohutta got screwed over due to female/elimination days being off and left early on a season where him and his cousin Jill could have done very well. He isn’t a dominant competitor due to his lack of size, but he is incredibly quick and strong for his size, helping him excel in daily challenges. On top of that he is just the coolest, sweetest dude in the world, who gives the best interviews. His main problem is that he often does not fit formats unless it is Exes. (which he still has never been on!!)
  3. Adam Kuhn — 1 season, 0 finals, (3–1) elimination record, biggest achievements: winning 3 eliminations on his rookie season, defeating Dustin in an elimination(Exes 2), being the first AYTO competitor to win an elimination. Last appearance: Season 26 Exes 2. Despite his tiny hands, I would love to see Mr. Sex Panther, Adam Kuhn, return to the Challenge. AYTO gets a bad wrap a lot of the time, and I think people forget how good Adam was on his first season. I know he didn’t beat the cream of the crop in his 3 elimination wins on Exes 2, but he was a rookie! It does not matter who you face, eliminations are very random and pretty tough, even for vets. He was also one box away from taking out Reilly and Averey in Exes 2. His partner Brittany also did not help at all, though she was pretty funny. Adam is very good looking and in killer shape. It makes me happy that he will be on the AYTO spin-off show, but we need Adam on the Challenge.
  4. Devin Walker — 1 season, 1 final, (0–1) elimination record, biggest achievements: 3rd Rivals 3, figuring out the pairings that saved AYTO Season 3, hooking up with girls out of his league. Last appearance: Season 28 Rivals . The man who only pulls white skulls went from one of the most hated new MTV personalities to a fan favorite. He is funny and his interviews are brilliant. Despite how dumb he acts, the guy is actually pretty good at manipulation and using his words to get himself in places he never deserved to be. Cheyenne was bad last season, and I have no clue whether Devin might be an average physical competitor. It would be fun to have him back, but I understand him going on the AYTO Spin-off instead in order to give that show some steam .
  5. Johnny Reilly — 3 seasons, 1 final, (3–2) elimination record, biggest achievements: 2nd Free Agents, winning 2 eliminations on Exes 2, and scaling the volcano 1st in the Free Agents final by over an hour. Last appearance: Season 28 Rivals 3. I understand why you would wish to never see Johnny Reilly again. When this guy does not like someone, he acts incredibly rude and mean to them, but he is also very loyal and defends his friends with his heart and pride. Also, at his core he has always been a guy with some strong morals, as he was always the one to call Jordan out on his shit in the Real World Portland house. The reason I want to see Reilly compete is that he is a good physical competitor who came so close to pulling off the upset in the Free Agents final. Which if Reilly won Free Agents, one of the most stacked male seasons ever, then people would look at him like a legend. He did well with Averey on Exes 2, and in all honesty they might have been the 3rd best team overall, but they ended up facing LeRoy and Nia who were elimination ringers and had probably 100 lbs over them in total size. On Rivals 3 he got stuck with Jessica, and that gave him no chance at winning. He has been into Cross-fit the past couple years and he is in better shape than when he finished 2nd on Free Agents. He would help stack a better underdogs team.
  6. Marlon Williams — 1 season, 1 final, (2–0) elimination record, biggest achievements: 3rd Rivals 2, winning 2 elimination Rivals 2, hooking up with a guy and girl on Rivals 2 in the span of a few episodes(Derek and Nany). Last appearance: Season 24 Rivals 2. When this guy showed up on Real World Portland and said he was a division 1 football player for Texas Teach(a legitimate school, sorry Theo and Zach); I was very hyped, and especially after looking up his stats. Marlon is one of the best football players to ever show up on the Challenge. Him and Jordan made waves and worked their way to the final on their rookie season, finishing 3rd in the final. On the season it was apparent that Jordan was much better than Marlon, as Marlon did not have the same type of endurance, mental, or swimming ability. Marlon is a big guy though, and he is very strong. If he came back on the show he could be a physical beast in eliminations, and it would be good to have big hulking men on the show more. Plus we need to see if he is good without Jordan.
  7. Connor Smith — Rookie, AYTO Season 3. This is the one that may surprise you, but this is the guy from AYTO that is a much bigger and nicer Zach. Connor is 6'8 and in phenomenal shape. He might be too big to excel in some portions of the Challenge, but he would just be a juggernaut in eliminations.
