I had planned a relaxing weekend and what better way to chill then to watch some films.

Joy

I started with the critically acclaimed ‘Joy’ — staring Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper amongst many others in a great cast.

Wikipedia describes it as an “American biographical comedy-drama”.

It evolves around Joy Mangano´s life story about her determination to follow dreams and creating her own business while trying to take care of the family.

The story takes place in a world where the internet and social media didn’t exist and that’s what makes it even more compelling.

Definitely one not to miss and shows us that sometimes a simple idea can change our lives if we are strong enough to carry it forward.

Next I watched a completely different type of film.

Let’s talk about ‘Goosebumps

Staring Jack Black, this is the perfect movie for those with young children or with a Peter Pan syndrome (like me).

It is based on a book series of the same name by R. L. Styne and it's all about letting our fantasies fly wild.

Monsters left and right – from their version of the Abominable Snowman to Werewolves and giant insects– and even having time for a bit of teenage romance.

Very entertaining, action packed and full of special effects.

CREED

Finally Creed, staring the all mighty Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan.

This is the attempt to pass on the torch of the legendary Rocky Balboa.

Personally I enjoyed how they structured the story around the legacy of Apollo Creed instead of a Balboa character. If you are a ‘Rocky’ fan then this will be a very enjoyable.

Regardless I felt that it misses something. If we go back to the first Rocky, he was the ultimate underdog, fighting against everyone to overcome obstacles and odds. This new character comes from a different background and although he never knew his father I didn't feel it carried the same drama.

Nevertheless I really enjoyed it.
