Marvel and Netflix have brought us some of the best series of stand-alone heroes with the devil of hell’s kitchen, the hero of Harlem, the sarcastic detective and the immortal Iron fist. These stand-alone series, who are also part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe like stand-alone films, will lead to the one main team-up series.

The origin of “The Defenders” came from the comic books “Hero’s for Hire” by Marvel. At that time, it had only two heroes: Luke Cage and Iron Fist. In the comic books series, other heroes joined as well, including, and most popular hero, Daredevil. As for Jessica Jones, she was actually never part of the team in the comics.

Netflix version of “The Defenders: Season One” includes all four heroes as mentioned, and how they meet each other, which is pretty awesome, but not as awesome as “The Avengers”, but it was still marvelous. Now, I do recommend before watching “The Defenders” to watch each stand-alone series, which will help to understand each hero’s background and how their stories connect.

When Luke and Danny (Iron Fist) met and shared the screen, it truly felt like the original comics books. The chemistry between Matt (Daredevil) and Jessica was flawless, and the humor and sarcasm between them was entertaining.

The scene when you had all four heroes together, sharing the screen for the first time, about to fight as a team, it was breathtaking! It was just like during the film “The Avengers”, when you had the Avengers for the first time all together on the big screen.

What really glues the team together is in fact someone we wouldn’t expect. I have been saying this since “Daredevil: Season One”, that this person will be the “Nick Fury” version of “The Avengers”. Someone who can be a different type of aid for “The Defenders”. Claire Temple, played by the wonderful Rosario Dawson, is a nurse who was introduced in “Daredevil: Season One” as she aids Matt. Claire returns in “Luke Cage: Season One”, “Iron Fist: Season One” and at last in “The Defenders”. Claire Temple isn’t just an ordinary person, she’s like a magnet for extraordinary people.

The series brought out other cast members from the past stand-alone series who were fantastic with Elodia Yung, Simmon Missick, Jessica Henwick, Carrie-Anne Moss, Sigourney Weaver and many more!

The story was phenomenal. With Marvel in charge, you already know it’s going to be excellent. The season has been directed by multiple directors, which made each episode a bit different. The story is brewed with so much action, drama, and a bit of comedy which blends it perfectly into an excellent season.

Overall, I cannot wait for the second season of “The Defenders”. The end left us with the next chapter for our Netflix’s heroes for hire, with “The Punisher: Season One” which will be phenomenal. As for the rest of the gang, we will have to wait. I highly recommend to binge watch “The Defenders”, you will not be disappointed!

I rate this season: Fucking Awesome!
