A. 2024 Recap
Summary
In 2024, MovieBloc dedicated its efforts to laying the foundation of the Web3 model. MBL-investment (MBL-i) introduced the world’s first funding model for independent and short films, providing creators with innovative ways to raise funds and generate revenue. Launched with the ‘Support’ feature in 2024, we plan to evolve it into a full-fledged RWA model in 2025.
To enhance user convenience, we added Japanese language support on our website, allowing Japanese customers to easily navigate the site and watch films with Japanese subtitles. We also partnered with the Japanese independent film platform Samansa, expanding MovieBloc’s film offerings to a global audience while showcasing Samansa’s films to our users.
MovieBloc collaborated with CJ ENM to introduce a special section featuring art and classic films and successfully ran simultaneous online and offline screenings with the Moomyung Theater. Additionally, we contributed to the spread of K-Culture by co-hosting the Ottawa Korean Film Festival with the Korean Cultural Center in Canada.
Moreover, we worked with various universities and government institutions to organize numerous film festivals. Our platform showcased works at festivals such as Seoul Institute of the Arts, Sungyul University, Hongik University, and the KTV National Video Festival, fostering communication between creators and audiences.

Summary
2025 MovieBloc Vision: Innovation in Independent Film through RWA Model
In 2025, MovieBloc will fully adopt the RWA (Real-World Asset) model, aiming to build an innovative Web3 community and ecosystem for independent and short films globally.
The MBL project team has been consistently creating opportunities for more creators to showcase their unique works to the world. The screening platforms that connect filmmakers directly with audiences, the MovieBloc online film festival platform, and the support and investment platform are the results of these efforts, laying a critical foundation for opening new possibilities in independent films. Furthermore, the MBL coin has established itself as a fast and transparent medium for purchasing movie tickets and compensating film creators, subtitle translators, and marketing participants, playing a crucial role in building trust across the ecosystem.
However, the traditional film industry still faces significant limitations in funding, distribution, and communication between creators and audiences. Independent filmmakers, in particular, struggle with securing sufficient funds and connecting with a global audience, while audiences remain mere consumers. To address these structural issues, MovieBloc has continuously engaged in dialogue with creators, distributors, and audiences, seeking innovative solutions. We firmly believe that blockchain technology and the RWA model hold the potential to overcome the fundamental limitations of the independent film industry. We aim to make 2025 the year MovieBloc becomes a representative success model of RWA in the independent film industry.
In 2025, our film content sourcing will also focus on RWA. For films to be recognized as assets through tokenization, they must have clear value to attract investors, and having been invited to and screened at prestigious film festivals will be a key factor in ensuring this value. Based on this, MovieBloc plans to combine the online film festival platform with the MBL Investment platform to operate a Limited Film Festival for customers who purchase NFT tickets using MBL coins. This will be our first step in utilizing NFTs for RWA, injecting new vitality into independent and short films.
Although uncertainty around government regulations for the STO (Security Token Offering) industry remains, MovieBloc will keep pace with the upcoming RWA tokenization trends, starting with the tokenization of NFT tickets and eventually tokenizing film IPs. Furthermore, we will build an active ecosystem where everyone who loves independent and short films can not only watch but also directly invest in and participate in the production process.
