MovieBloc Short Film Contest 2025 — Call for Entries

We are thrilled to announce the call for entries for the 2025 MBL Short Film Contest under the theme Freeflow Films.
Where your story flows — now is the time to unlock your emotions and set them free through your own cinematic vision.
We are waiting for the beautiful currents you will create.
At the 2025 MBL Short Film Contest, showcase your originality and explore your creative universe to the fullest.
As the host of GISFF (GwangHwaMun International Short Film Festival), MovieBloc offers creators the opportunity to present their works to a global audience, and gives viewers the chance to experience a diverse range of inspiring films. Let’s bring back the heart-pounding excitement of cinema together.

Eligibility
The 2025 MBL Short Film Contest is divided into three sections:
General Short Film
Experimental Short Film
AI Short Film
Each work can only be submitted to one section.

Theme
The theme for the 2025 MBL Short Film Contest is Open Theme.
- General Short Film: Narrative short films of any genre and topic.
- Experimental Short Film: Films that challenge traditional storytelling, techniques, or cinematic formats.
- AI Short Film: Films centered on AI as a theme or utilizing AI technology creatively.
(Note: Films already screening on MovieBloc, music videos, and advertisements are not eligible.)

Required Submission Materials
All the following materials must be completed for your submission to be accepted:
-Screening file (according to recommended video formats)
Title (in English)
-Synopsis (in English)
-Film stills
-English subtitles
-Director’s profile photo
-Director’s biography (in English)

Awards
Total prizes worth $30,000 in MBL are waiting for you! :트로피:
-GoldBloc — $10,000 in MBL (1 team, General section)
-SilverBloc — $6,000 in MBL (1 team, General section)
-BronzeBloc — $4,000 in MBL (1 team, General section)
-VisionBloc — $4,000 in MBL (1 team, Experimental section)
-AI Bloc — $4,000 in MBL (1 team, AI section)
-Audience Awards — $200 in MBL (10 teams total)
(Awards are distributed after a 4.4% deduction.)

Timeline
-Submission Period:
April 28, 2025 — June 30, 2025
-Finalists Announcement:
August 4, 2025 (KST)
-Audience Voting Period:
August 4 — August 31, 2025 (KST)
-Winners Announcement:
September 8, 2025 (KST)
