TikTok’s algorithm might be pushing incel culture and misogyny

TikTok, the most popular social media app at the moment, has something of a reputation for being more “woke” or socially liberal. However, misogynistic content, users, and comments exist widely on the app, with women getting very little help once they report this to the platform. Even when women use the “stitch” feature to call out misogynistic content, they are flooded with visceral sexism in the comments.

The rise of incel TikTok dignitaries

TikTok is, arguably, the birthplace of some of the most dangerous #redpilled influencers right now. While Tate already had a platform, TikTok took him from Z list reality celebrity status to work renown. Other users such as hardpillnetwork, which shares sexist content, have nearly one million followers. Thousands more accounts like this exist — predominately reposting clips from infamous creators such as Andrew Tate and Fresh&Fit.

The #RedPill hashtag, in itself, should realistically be considered hateful, considering the generic theory behind it is sexist in nature.
