I’m a sucker for movies that make bold creative choices. I love really artistic films that understand the power of the visuals to emphasize the themes and purpose of the film.
In this article, I want to share reviews of some of my favorite modern black-and-white films (or mostly black-and-white films). While I enjoy older movies where black and white was the only option available, that’s not what I want to get into today. Instead, I want to focus on those films that choose this visual style to enhance the story.
Sometimes, the lack of color makes a film all the more powerful.
