A disjointed and disappointing ending to an epic saga.

Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker movie poster

I have been a Star Wars fan since I was a kid and I was thrilled to see how they were going to wrap this iconic series up in a neat little bow with the ninth movie and, presumably the last of the Skywalker tale. Walking into the theater, I was so interested to see what JJ Abrams and the rest of the creative team would come up with — where would we leave Rey, Kylo, Poe, and the rest of the crew? I was also curious how they would handle the story given that Carrie Fisher had passed away before she was able to film this movie.

I was excited about watching this iconic series end. Then reviews started to come out stating the lackluster nature of the film and I got even more excited. Before reading the reviews, it hadn’t occurred to me that this movie might not be very good.

I walked away from the theater thinking that this film was only okay, which is not the feeling that you want to have as you’re leaving what was supposed to be an epic experience.

If you haven’t yet seen it, I encourage you to not read any further. I don’t want to color your experience watching it, though I don’t think there’s really much plot-wise that I will be spoiling here.
