At MozFest, we’re excited to invite you to play Tracked, a large-scale, role-playing game that puts you in the shoes of the different actors in a data sharing economy.

MozFest 2018 is October 26–28, in London. Get your tickets now!

Why should we care about data privacy? As users of digital platforms, every day we are pressured into offering up pieces of personal data in order to participate on the internet. To sign up for a social network we need to provide our full name. To download a gaming app we need to provide access to our phone’s contact list. What kinds of trade-offs do we make when we hand over that data? What are we really getting in exchange?

Playing as one of two roles — the user of a social platform and a platform that tracks its users — you’ll need to complete different challenges and activities to rack up points and win the game. But here’s the catch: with platforms tracking your movements and collecting your data, you’ll need to act quickly to avoid being caught. And as a tracker, you’ll need to watch the crowd at MozFest and move quickly to target users and collect their data tokens.

Interested in joining our game at MozFest? You’ll play at your own pace during the two days of the festival, completing challenges and dodging other players while attending all the sessions, workshops, and activities MozFest has to offer. Tracked is one of MozFest 2018’s three unique Experiences, along with the Art+Data Experience and Queering MozFest.

To play Tracked on Saturday October 27th or Sunday October 28th, just come to our Help Center at Ravensbourne on the 5th floor on either day. Availability is limited to 100 players per day, so come early!

For more updates keep an eye on our site https://tracked.life or better yet follow us on twitter @tracked_life!

Note: While this is a game about data collection on the internet, there is no actual data that will be collected about MozFest participants. No information is actually being stored about players of the game except for a leaderboard where points will be tracked.
