It’s been an exciting day for the free and open internet movement at MozFest. People from all over the world have come together with a view to making a better internet for everyone.

There have been hundreds of sessions on topics as diverse as the Internet of Things, open leadership, digital arts, neuroscience, the solar system and encouraging employers to recognise open badges. People have been talking, hacking, fixing, creating, listening, disrupting and tweeting.

Some of the brightest minds came to take part in our inaugural Speaker Series, covering challenging topics such as online harassment, digital inclusion, privacy & security, and the ethics of free labour in the open movement.

We are seeing a new generation of leaders of the open movement emerge and if you’ve been here at MozFest today, you’re one of them.

Running through the whole event has been an energy of great positivity, collaboration and community spirit. There are many challenges facing the open internet movement, many of them big, all of them important in some way. If MozFest is any indicator, we have the right people on our side and we can’t possibly fail to meet those challenges.

As the day winds down, we hope that you can make it to one of the parties happening this evening where old friendships can be rekindled and new ones ignited. Send us your highlights of the day by Tweeting #MozFest.

The best bit? We get to do it all again tomorrow!

PS don’t forget, UK time moves back one hour overnight, from BST to GMT, so you get an extra hour to recover!
