The Future of Fertility Is Remote-Controlled

Where would you allow a microchip to be placed? Your car? Your favorite kitchen appliance?

What about your body?

On display at The Glass Room is “The Fertility Chip,” a real-world piece of technology that’s at home in the most intimate of spaces: The human body. The chip was developed by Microchips Biotech Inc. with $11 million in support from the Gates Foundation. It’s goal: Unlock the ability to remotely control a woman’s fertility. The chip is slated for release in 2018, with a focus on developing countries.

Questions to consider: What happens when organizations less noble than Gates develop biotechnology? Or when bad actors gain access to an item like the fertility chip?
