Tracking Your Attendance at Church
File under strange bedfellows: churches and facial recognition technology.
But the two have found common ground in Churchix, the program that uses facial recognition software to measure congregation attendance. Its purpose: Help clergy glean insight into congregation engagement. Suddenly, skipping a mass or ducking out before the sermon becomes a lot more risky.
In an exhibit at The Glass Room, Mozilla and Tactical Tech provide a Churix tutorial, walking participants through the program’s interface. Users also see the app in action, locking in on individual’s faces, identifying them, and cataloguing them.
Churchix is a product by Face Six, which also creates facial recognition software for casinos, airports, and border control.
