What?! A real hoverboard..?!

Back to the Future Day is almost upon us, but the inventor of the Omni Hoverboard, which looks most similar to the infamous film invention, is still testing improved prototypes of his record-breaking futuristic device. In a real-life “Back to the Future” moment, Canadian inventor Catalin Alexandru Duru set a Guinness World Record for the farthest flight by hoverboard, flying 905 feet, 2 inches over Lake Ouareau in Quebec Canada before splashing down. Duru flew 16 feet above the water and covered the distance of three football fields on a hoverboard he took 12 months to design and build. It resembles an octocopter drone you see people use to make videos from the sky.

This is the next generation’s hoverboard; Alexandru Duru started his company when he was 31. The Omni Hoverboards; Duru created a prototype and develop and manufacture futuristic fan-powered hoverboards. The prototype managed to travel a total distance of 275.9 m (905 ft and 2 inches) to achieve a new Guinness World Records title for the longest distance travelled by a hoverboard.
