The speaker of the story “Between the world and me” is a African American man. We know in the story it speaks upon him walking in the woods, and he witnesses something tragic. The subject of the story is discrimination. This is in my opinion. He feels highly upset on what he was witnessing which was people being burned and beaten up. It made him think about a lot of things. I think the line “Between the world and me” means that there’s a connection between the world and him.
